The IC-R10 has wide frequency coverage from 0.5MHz to 1300MHz with all mode (incl. CW) receive capability.

Real-time bandscope

The IC-R10 has a real-time bandscope function (first for a handheld receiver) making it easy to find busy frequencies and also easy to observe the receiving frequency band conditions. The passband width of the bandscope is selectable from the range of ±100kHz (20kHz channel spacing) and ±25kHz (5kHz channel spacing).

VSC function

Icom's original VSC (Voice Scan Control) function - another 'first' for a handheld - pauses a scan only when modulated signals are received. The VSC function activates an AF mute switch when unmodulated or beat signals are received.

Bank and memory name functions

The IC-R10 has an ample 1000 memory channels with 8-character alphanumeric names for convenience. And, channels can be grouped into banks, with each bank capable of holding a 10-character name. For protection from data loss, EEPROM's are used for memory backup.

New SIGNAVI function

Scan types include programmed, memory, bank, mode and more. And, introducing the new SIGNAVI scan. The SIGNAVI scan activates with programmed, auto memory write and full scans in FM mode. This scan bypasses or skips clear frequencies, within ±100kHz (according to the tuning setting; max. acceptable tuning step is 20kHz) from a paused frequency, to the next busy frequency. This helps speed up scanning.
